Herrwood Drive Widening – URRA Steps In

Residents on Herrwood Drive have raised concerns over the ongoing road widening, which appears to be proceeding without proper public consultation. A community meeting called by Ward 35 Councillor Bradley Singh was held to address the issue, but no representatives from the eThekwini Town Planning Department attended, leaving many questions unanswered.

A follow-up meeting was held last night, 5 August 2025, where the Town Planning Department were expected to engage with residents and clarify the project’s scope and compliance.

The Umhlanga Ratepayers and Residents Association (URRA) attended the initial meeting and will be advocating for residents based on the feedback received. URRA’s legal representative has also been consulted and will provide guidance as needed.

We remain committed to ensuring that development follows due process and reflects the interests of the community. Further updates will be shared following the upcoming meeting.

A born-and-bred Durbanite, Brett brings both professional expertise and community spirit to the role. He is a registered accountant with SAIPA and IAC, and runs a successful private practice serving a diverse client base.

Brett’s strong financial background and commitment to good governance make him an invaluable part of the URRA team, helping to ensure transparency, accountability, and sound financial management in all we do.
