About URRA

Who we are

The uMhlanga Ratepayers’ and Residents’ Association is a legally-constituted and recognised association that represents all residents and ratepayers in the greater uMhlanga precinct.

We aim to give our community a unified voice and work toward protecting and reviving the area via a number of initiatives, both with and without municipal involvement.

All that is required of a URRA member is to pay their membership fee and we will tackle the difficult issues on their behalf.

VALUE PROPOSAL

“Empowering Ratepayers and Residents: Your Investment, Our Commitment.”
Over the next six months, the Ratepayers and Residents Association is dedicated to bringing significant value to our members and the community.
Our focus areas will revolve around fostering a more desirable community, with improved prosperity and job creation in the tourism and business sector, and a sustainable neighbourhood.
As your representative body, we will actively advocate for the interests of our members at local government meetings and other relevant forums. Our aim is to ensure that the concerns and needs of the community are heard and considered in decision-making processes that affect our neighbourhood. We will address and escalate wasteful expenditure in local government that we identify.
Here are the main interventions you can expect from us during this period:
• Addressing the Sewerage issues as best we can to keep the beaches open. The Promenade and public spaces are key to the Tourism industry, and as such will be an important focus area.
• Eradicating the water wastage from leaking infrastructure and stolen water metres – we will vigorously pursue overdue repairs and maintenance.
• We will engage with the Electrical department to minimise electrical breakdowns over and above the current load shedding issues.
• We will build some reserves in the event we need to take legal advice.
• Your safety is a priority. We are already working with law enforcement to implement crime prevention and road safety issues to enhance security within the neighbourhood.
• Although there are many more pressing issues to address in time, the above goes a long way to maintain property value and an improved lifestyle.
Your support will enable our success – as our numbers count in these interactions.
We will keep our members informed and empowered through regular newsletters, website updates, and meeting and informational sessions.
